Inner Circle of Wine: The First Community Evening at the Weinkanzlei

On May 16, the Inner Circle of Wine held its inaugural event—and for us, it turned out to be much more than just a traditional wine tasting. With about 60 guests, over 50 wines from the community, and a new venue right in the heart of Vienna, read on to find out how the evening went.

A New Venue – Premiere at the Weinkanzlei

Wine Wallet , along with the Inner Circle of Wine, opened the new event venue “Weinkanzlei” in Vienna. The focus was on select bottles from the Wine-Wallet community—wines that have found their place over the years and were now reopened in a special setting.

About 60 guests gathered at the Weinkanzlei and discussed the wines. It was an evening filled with exceptional bottles, personal stories, good conversations, and new connections—exactly as we had envisioned this event.

Wine Wallet 's current status

Our managing directors, Martin and Melanie, kicked off the evening. They provided an overview of the current status of Wine Wallet: where we stand today, what’s currently in the works, and what our next steps are.

Wine Wallet currently has over 100 customers and more than 35,000 bottle slots reserved. At the same time, we are consistently developing the platform further—with greater transparency, better wine data, clear provenance, and preparations for a high-quality marketplace focused on verified wines.

Our goal: not only to professionally store fine wine and make it visible online, but also to create a trustworthy platform for wine lovers and connoisseurs. Events like the Inner Circle of Wine will take place more frequently in the future.

A Collectors' Flight in Three Parts

After a brief update, the tasting portion of the evening began. Raphael, our Certified Sommelier, led the flight, providing expert commentary on the wines and guiding the guests through three tasting segments.

What made it special: The wines tasted came from the collections of our community members. This turned the flight into more than just a tasting—it offered a personal glimpse into the stories behind the bottles.

Wines with a Personal Story

Two members, Christian and Jörg, shared how they came to own the wines that were opened together that evening. It was precisely these stories that brought the flight to life: It wasn’t just about vintages, origins, and ratings, but about memories, decisions, passion—and the question of what a bottle means to the person who owns it.

“Wine Wallet is more than just storage and digitization—it’s where a community is taking shape.”

The Library Bar – Over 50 Wines from the Community

After the guided tasting, the evening continued at the Library Bar. There, an exceptional lineup of over 50 wines awaited us—curated from the collections of our community members. All the bottles were brought in by the members themselves.

From P.Y. Colin Morey to Ulysse Colin to Tignanello and Hirtzberger served from double magnums, the selection demonstrated just how diverse and high-quality the wine collections within the Wine-Wallet community already are. The Library Bar brought to life what the Inner Circle of Wine is all about: not just big names or rare bottles, but sharing wine experiences, terroir, and personal passion.

Thanks to our community

A big thank you to everyone who made this first Inner Circle of Wine possible: to our guests, to the community members who shared their wines and stories, to Raphael for his expert guidance, and to everyone who filled the evening with openness, curiosity, and enthusiasm.

For us, this evening sent a powerful message: a community is emerging of people who want to experience wine through trust, origin, and a personal connection. And that is exactly what the marketplace for verified wines—which we are preparing step by step—is built on.
